BIO

Landen Callander is a Meanjin (Brisbane) based artist, designer, and arts worker with a keen interest in visual communication and typography.

Within a contemporary art context, Landen creates diagrammatic representations of intangible thoughts, memories, and feelings associated with Australian suburbia and the everyday. He seeks to encourage contemplation of overlooked ‘constants’ within the ordinary and mundane through an analytical lens.

Landen completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) with Distinction at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2019. During his degree Landen interned at not-for-profit art residency space, House Conspiracy, eventually becoming a board member before leaving to co-found a new not-for-profit organisation, Nextdoor Artist Run Initiative (ARI), with four close friends. Currently operating as President, Landen hopes that his involvement with Nextdoor ARI helps foster a community that inspires creativity, inclusivity and kindness.

Eager to build on his existing design experience, Landen returned to study in 2023 and received his Diploma of Graphic Design at TAFE alongside an award for excellence in typography.
